Woking Town Centre

Woking town centre is the commercial heart of the borough, built around a busy railway station on the London Waterloo to Portsmouth main line — one of the fastest commuter connections into the capital in Surrey. The centre has been extensively redeveloped over recent decades and is dominated by the covered Peacocks and Wolsey Place shopping centres, the newer Victoria Place development beside the station, and the New Victoria Theatre.

## Shopping in Woking Town Centre

The pedestrianised Commercial Way, Wolsey Walk, and Mercia Walk form the main shopping streets, linking the Peacocks Centre, Wolsey Place, and Victoria Place. The town centre combines national high-street retailers with independent cafés and restaurants, and the Victoria Place development added further shops, restaurants, and a Hilton hotel.

## Eating and Drinking

Commercial Way and the surrounding streets have a broad range of restaurants and cafés, from Lebanese and Indian kitchens to casual dining and coffee shops. Chertsey Road, running towards the station, is home to several of the town's pubs and bars, including the Wetherspoon pub The Herbert Wells.

## Getting Around

Woking railway station sits on the edge of the centre with frequent direct services to London Waterloo, Guildford, Portsmouth, and the south coast. The A320 and A324 link the town to the M25 (junction 11) and the wider road network.
